Naturopathic Medicine

Naturopathic medicine is a distinct system of primary health care with roots over a century old. A naturopathic doctor is primary care physician that utilizes a combination of conventional and integrative diagnostic techniques within the naturopathic guiding philosophy to uncover the underlying causes of disease, treat the body as a whole and promote it’s resiliency. Naturopathic doctors also believe in educating patients so they can become partners in their own healing.

A licensed naturopathic physician (ND) attends a four-year, graduate-level naturopathic medical school. They are educated in the same basic sciences and comparable biomedical and diagnostic curricula as conventional doctors. In addition they study natural approaches to therapy such as clinical nutrition, physical medicine, botanical medicine, psychology, and counseling. A naturopathic physician also takes rigorous professional board exams to become licensed as a primary care general practice physician.
